Application Process:

Admission for Activating Leadership and Leading for Impact programs are considered on a rolling application deadline. Applicants are asked to submit their completed applications by any of the three deadlines:

March 1st, 2013
April 5th, 2013
May 3rd, 2013

Applications may be submitted online or downloaded, printed and sent in via snail mail. Applicants will be contacted for interviews within two weeks of receipt of the application.

Activating Leadership

Session 1: July 15-26 including weekend retreat July 20-21
Session 2: August 5-16 including weekend retreat August 10-11
  • First year participant – must be able to attend all 12 days
  • Entering grades 10-12 in Sept. 2013
  • Local to Westchester County

Activating Leadership provides the foundation of the first year of the Eileen Fisher Leadership Institute. This 12 day program is an exploration of leadership practices including: engaging classes, inspirational visits with local women leaders and skill based workshops. These elements encourage reflection and the creative process while building community. The closing ceremony on the final Friday evening of the session draws together the skills and tools as the young women embark on their next steps.

Leading for Impact

5 week summer explorative: July 15-Aug 16 (excluding Saturdays and Sundays) including a mid-summer retreat
  • Second year participant – must have completed Activating Leadership (or equivalent leadership experience)
  • Local to Westchester County
  • Self directed, eager to learn, passionate about a topic or issue

Leading for Impact is the second step within the Eileen Fisher Leadership Institute. This explorative program builds upon the foundation provided during the first year of Activating Leadership. Participants partake in workshops and a ‘Deep Dive’ action project for deeper inquiry and discovery. ‘Deep Dive’ action projects enable participants to take steps towards following a passion and impacting change in local communities. The projects will be chosen by the participants in week one and completed in teams during weeks two, three and four. The closing ceremony in August is an opportunity for teams to showcase their finished projects at the end of week five.

ACCEPTED:

Once you have been accepted into the program you will need to fill out the registration forms. An email and detailed acceptance letter will explain how to do so. Activating Leadership program fee is $950 which can be paid with a deposit of $200 pre-program to hold your spot and $750 at the start of the program. Leading for Impact program fee is $1950. Deep Dive project costs will be covered up to $500.  FINANCIAL AID is available, see below.

FINANCIAL AID:

An inability to pay should not be a deterrent for interested and committed candidates. Aid is available on a need basis. A W2 may be requested. Special circumstances will be considered. Payment Plans are available.

LIFE Fellowship

Full Summer July 8th-August 16th includes one Activating Leadership retreat and the full Leading for Impact retreat

The LIFE Fellowship provides an opportunity for a select group of young women to implement the  EFLI leadership practices during a six week summer internship. The fellows help to facilitate group workshops, act as guides for program participants, and assist in program development. The fellows  are an integral part of the program and lend themselves to enhancing the overall experience and impact of the Activating Leadership and Leading for Impact programs.

  • Must have completed high school by the 2012 Summer
  • Local to Westchester County
  • Interested in working with young women
  • Eager to learn group facilitation (some experience facilitating a plus)

Call For Facilitators

We are looking for engaging, interactive facilitators who creatively present activities that encourage young women by following our mission and philosophy.
Past Workshops Have Included: Theater of the oppressed, creative writing, media literacy, spoken word, yoga, dance (creative movement and belly dance), public speaking, photography.  Possible ideas for this year include design (fashion, graphic, engineering), recycling projects, story telling…

Workshops can be presented in various formats such as:

  • a one time visit of 3 hrs
  • Activating Leadership – workshops meet for 8 hrs in 1.5-2 hr blocks
  • Leading for Impact – workshop meet for 10 hrs through in 1.5-2 hr blocks
